ISLAMABAD—Mubarak Zeb Khan (pictured) and Malik Asad were elected president and general secretary of the Dawn Employees Union, Islamabad, in the first formal election since its registration with the labor department.
The Progressive Panel that they represented made a clean sweep of the polls for 2021-22.
Although the Karachi and Lahore centers had unions, the Islamabad office never had one since the newspaper began publishing from the metropolis in 2002.  
Khaleeq Kiani, who headed the election committee, announced the following results:
President: Mubarak Zeb Khan (33)
Mazhar Qayyum Khan (6)
Syed Kalbe Ali (4)
General Secretary: Malik Asad (26)
Raja Javed (17) 
Vice President: Ilyas Bhatti (32)
Wajid Ghulam Rasool (10).
Finance Secretary: Tariq Mahmood (34)
Umar Farooq (9)
Information Secretary: Kashif Abbasi (34)
Wasif Sabir (9)
Rashid Khattak (Joint Secretary), Fatima Hurria, and Farooq Ahmed (members managing committee) were elected unopposed.
Shakeel Anjum, President National Press Club, and General Secretary Anwar Raza congratulated the newly elected union.
